Summer trip

June 9, 2012 § 4 Comments

Apparently it’s time for a summer trip! Although work has been busy for the past two months, I managed to find the time and plan for my up-coming trip. Spain is never really on the top of my list of country to visit. However, as a friend of mine is getting married in Alcoy (Spain), and I’m invited. Therefore, this country just bumped herself up to my next-to-visit!

My sister will join me on this trip, and we have two weeks time off work. At first I planned to simply travel within Spain, starting from Granada and go up long the east coast through Alicante to Barcelona. Then we thought it may get too hot in southern Spain, why don’t we do that part of the country in Spring next time.

So we look at other European cities which have direct flight going to Alicante, and we don’t want to go too far north. Surprisingly, lots of flights from the U.K., but my sister wasn’t interested. Other choices we have are Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. After considering our flight options, and our interests to visit castles, we decided we’ll head to Munich! As I have previously visited Berlin and Dresden, I’m very excited about visiting the Bavarian capital and see how different this part of Germany is.

Here’s what my trip will look like:

4 days in Munich and see the Newschwanstein castle,
2 days visiting the charming old town of Salzburg (Austria),
2 days in Alcoy (Spain) for the Spanish wedding,
4 days in beautiful Barcelona (Spain), soaking up the glory of Gaudi.

More details will come soon 🙂

  • Spain should definately be top of your ‘to visit’ list!

When in Bavaria, you should definitely visit not only Neuschwanstein but Chateau Linderhof and Cloister Ettal and maybe chateau Herrenchiemsee as well and stay at least 2 days in Munich.
cloister Ettal and chateua Linderhof are on your way from Munich to Neuschwanstein. And chateau Hohenschwangau is nearby Neuschanstein. It’s the home of the parents of King Ludwig II.

Thank you for the info! I haven’t planned the specific details yet, so I’ll keep your suggestion in mind when planning how to get to the Neuschwanstein 🙂 thanks a lot!
